Heartland’s novel HelioStorm™ ultra-high temperature ionic gasifier has been chosen as semifinalist in U.S. Army xTech Program. The xTech program is described as “areas such as artificial intelligence/machine learning; autonomy; climate and clean technologies; immersive/wearables; and sensors.”

Heartland’s submission in the “climate and clean technologies” category, Compact Ionic Gasification System for Waste-to-Energy Conversion Applications, proposes the application of HelioStorm for commercial and US military market applications. The technology was first demonstrated for military use with significant government investment in the form of a U.S. Navy SBIR project.

HelioStorm can be applied to a wide variety of feedstock types, making it suitable for the U.S. Army’s broad range of waste-to-energy conversion needs, from burn pit remediation to difficult to manage waste streams such as munitions manufacturing residues that are currently collected and stockpiled for future disposal.
