Industry veteran and Heartland Water Technology Executive Vice President of Operations David Howard joins us in a conversation around his introduction to Heartland, when the Heartland Concentrator™ offered a solution to a sudden significant leachate management challenge.
Prior to joining Heartland, David managed landfills for WM, serving as a Senior District Manager in VA. David speaks about a situation in which his landfill was producing hundreds of thousands of gallons of leachate a day when he was abruptly informed that the local POTW, his existing leachate disposal partner, no longer would accept his leachate. David and his team were forced to truck leachate to significantly further locations resulting in significant financial and environmental impacts. He turned to Heartland to help solve the problem.
By investing in the Heartland Concentrator™, David and his team were able to combat the complex challenge by treating leachate directly on-site using a proven treatment technology. The solution was effective and led to the addition of two more Concentrators™, making three in total. The result was a cost-efficient method for leachate treatment which reduced disposal costs, increased solution certainty, removed trucks from the road and enabled David and his team to control their own destiny.
