Heartland is proud to share COO David Howard has received the MSW Management’s Leadership Award. Recognizing “excellence in leadership in the waste and recycling industry” MSW Management’s Leadership Award spotlights team leaders across functions to shine light on those who make a profound impact on their organization and the industry.
Since joining as COO in 2022, David Howard has applied a profound understanding of operations and a servant focused leadership style to make an undeniable impact on the Heartland organization. David supports new and existing customers and the operation of Heartland’s company-owned facilities.
CEO Earl Jones notes “After serving in the Marine Corps, David was a landfill laborer, and went through college and grad school to eventually become General Manager for two large Waste Management landfills.” David has witnessed and successfully navigated the waste industry changes and challenges over the past 20+ years.
Besides his deep knowledge and expertise as an operator, David exhibits key interpersonal traits that make him a successful leader. Earl Jones continues “Through his people-centric approach to leadership, [David] binds us together as a team and provides our young managers a role model from which to hone and development their own leadership skills. No one could be more deserving of recognition than David.”
